The Caterpillar 3044 and 3044C (also designated Cat C3.4) is a 3.3–3.4 litre, 4-cylinder industrial diesel engine used across Caterpillar's compact skid steer loader, multi terrain loader, compact track loader, wheel loader, aerial lift and industrial sweeper product lines. It is one of the most widely used compact Caterpillar engines, found in both B-series and C-series machines from approximately 2002 onwards.

Cat 3044C vs Cat C3.4 — Are They the Same Engine?
Yes. The Cat 3044C and Cat C3.4 refer to the same engine platform. The 3044C is the designation used on older Tier 2 and Tier 3 mechanical and turbocharged variants. Cat C3.4 is used for the same base architecture in updated and later configurations. Both engine designations are direct replacements for one another in the same compact Caterpillar equipment applications. When ordering, always verify using your machine serial number and arrangement number.
